Trump administration official alleges former US president tested COVID-positive ahead of Biden debate

Just before Trump’s presidential helicopter was about to take off to take him to Pennsylvania for a rally, Meadows wrote that White House doctor Sean Conley called to inform the president had tested positive. .
The former doctor to President Trump had asked Meadows to “prevent the president from leaving” because “he [had] has just tested positive for Covid. “
Trump’s flight couldn’t be stopped, but when the chief of staff next had a call with him, he broke the news.
“Mr. President, I have bad news. You have tested positive for Covid-19.”
Trump, according to Meadows, responded with “Oh spit, you must be covering me with a truck,” which is slang for “oh, you’re kidding me.”
Meadows goes on to write that an old model kit had been used to test Trump, and told the president he would have to take another test with “the Binax system,” “hoping [that] the first test was a false positive. “
The test with the new model kit came back negative.
Trump then gave his staff “full permission to continue as usual.”
Meadows, however, “asked everyone in his immediate circle to treat him as if he was positive.”
“I didn’t want to take unnecessary risks,” Meadows writes, “but I didn’t want to alarm the public either.”
The public was never informed of the first test.
