Rest in Paisley – American businessman’s last wish is granted

The ashes of an American businessman were buried in Paisley’s family lair in a moving ceremony at the grave.
Peter Auchincloss of Baltimore had always wanted to rest with his father and grandfather despite being born across the pond.
His widow Lisa traveled 3,400 miles to make her last wish come true on Wednesday.

Last month we shared how former New York model Lisa was making the trip and meeting her daughter Gabrielle, who is studying at St Andrews University.
Peter had never lived in Paisley … but wanted to be dead there for a long time.
His father Eric was born and raised a Paisley Buddie and first met his wife Barbara in Macclesfield.
He was known as Ric and had served as a squadron commander in the RAF during World War II.
They settled in the United States, but upon his death he wanted his remains to return to their roots in Renfrewshire and to be alongside his father William.
Her son Peter, who tried to visit Paisley every year, wanted the same.
The Reverend Elspeth McKay, Minister of Paisley Abbey, officiated at the ceremony, which was bathed in sunlight.
Piper Melissa Jeffery played Loch Lomond and Flower of Scotland and Lisa laid a wreath.
His daughter Gabrielle laid a wreath on behalf of the Renfrewshire Family History Society,
The family had been assisted in locating the grave by Peter Hutchison, Membership Secretary of the Renfrewshire Family History Society.

He took Lisa and her daughter Gabrielle to visit Paisley.
And he helped them scatter some of the ashes on the Gleniffer Braes, as well as take them to Paisley Abbey and the places where the ancestors lived, including Lounsdale Road and Lounsdale Drive.
Peter said: “I am delighted that everything has worked out well.
“They were overwhelmed by the view they had from the Braes peak.
“They were so grateful, the sun was shining and it gave Peter’s soul a view of the whole of Paisley.
“I recited a hymn as they spread the ashes.
“They loved the history, especially the abbey, and I was delighted to be able to show them the best of the city.”
Lisa will now spend time with her daughter before returning to the village of Dickeyville near the port city of Baltimore, Maryland.
She said: ‘We were greeted so warmly by everyone and Peter Hutchison took all day to take us on a lovely Paisley tour and we were even able to go to the Abbey to see where the family worshiped and sang. in the choir.
“It was a very special day and a day that I will always cherish and see again with so many grateful memories.”
Peter – father of Gabrielle and Sara – was known as the “unelected mayor of Dickeyville” because of his dedication to the area.
He was a successful patent-holder businessman, former chairman of the Baltimore City Planning Commission, water purification industry specialist, and supremo of the Dickeyville Poker Club.
