Industry leaders and content experts meet at the 2021 National Black Public Administrators Forum

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, July 23, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – The National Forum of Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) hosted an informative and successful FORUM 2021 conference from June 22-25, 2021. Public administrators from across the country virtually participated in FORUM 2021 to collaborate, have informed discussions and form lasting bonds with another.
The NFBPA was delighted to welcome distinguished guests who presented topics relevant to the public administration sector. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) joined FORUM 2021 virtually to discuss the future of public safety. The Honorable Polly Trottenberg, US Undersecretary of Transportation, led a roundtable on infrastructure with other experts in the field. Renowned American politician and political commentator Bakari Sellers moderated a public policy session on “The Impact of Policing in America, One Year Later and The Way Forward”. This session brought together elected officials, state and city leaders, and private sector experts to discuss efforts to reduce the adverse effects in communities of color by reimagining the police in the United States.
Featured event speakers also offered a wide range of professional experiences and expertise. Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League (NUL) and Rosalind âRozâ Brewer, CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, both gave impressive opening speeches. Dr Rochelle Walensky, Director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), shared his timely insights with hundreds of virtual attendees, while Jeff Pegues, CBS News Chief Justice and Homeland Security Correspondent, joined FORUM 2021 as host of the elect. City Hall.

Celebrating collective and individual achievement was an important part of FORUM 2021. AFBPA was delighted to recognize academic achievement through its Scholarship program, designed to honor African American or other minority students who are currently enrolled full-time in an accredited and traditional four-year college or university, and exemplify outstanding scholarship and leadership, especially in relation to the public service.
William Horne, Administrative Director of the City of Clearwater, Florida, received the Marks of Excellence Award. The Marks of Excellence Award is the NFPBA’s highest honor bestowed on an African-American public administrator who has achieved extraordinary success in the field of public management while demonstrating a selfless commitment to the community.
The NFBPA has also inducted new members into its Hall of Fame.

The members of the NFBPA were delighted to celebrate the achievements of these people, as well as others. 2021 Laureates for their contribution to the field of civil service and administration. While this year’s virtual conference offered benefits such as the elimination of travel and the removal of other barriers to entry, the NFBPA looks forward to continuing the proud tradition of FORUM in person next year, at Grand Rapids, Michigan, from March 30 to April 3, 2022, when it fosters more opportunities for professional development, growth and recognition.
