Police said five men broke into Mahendra Singh’s hotel in Sanpka village on October 8 and shot him and his brother Ajit Singh, killing him instantly.

Two people were arrested on Saturday evening in connection with the murder of a 45-year-old businessman in Pataudi last month. Police recovered the gun and an SUV used in the crime.

Police identified the suspects as Sandeep Kumar and Arun Kumar, both from Farrukhnagar. They were arrested at the Bilaspur crossroads, police said.

Police said five men broke into Mahendra Singh’s hotel in Sanpka village on October 8 and shot him and his brother Ajit Singh, killing him instantly. Ajit ran a transport company, police said.

Preet Pal Sangwan, deputy police commissioner, said on Sunday that the murder was the result of a rivalry between two groups to dominate the logistics activities of an e-commerce company in the region. “The e-commerce company has several warehouses in and around the city and has awarded logistics contracts to different local companies,” he said.

On October 17, police arrested three people in this case. “CCTV footage helped police identify the suspects,” Sangwan said.

An FIR was registered against five suspects under Articles 302 (murder), 307 (attempted murder), 323 (willfully causing injury) and 148 (riot, armed with lethal weapon) of the Indian Penal Code and Articles relevant to the Weapons Act at the Pataudi police station on October 8.
