Four DCI officers arrested for stealing 300,000 shillings from businessman » Capital News

NAIROBI, Kenya, February 12 – Police have arrested four officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for abducting a businessman and stealing 300,000 shillings from him.
According to DCI’s Twitter account, the incident happened last Sunday at Nextgen Mall when the businessman asked for a taxi by the side of the road.
The investigative agency said he was instead locked in a waiting car belonging to officers.
“Their actions are isolated cases of indiscipline that do not represent our moral values and what we stand for. We are an investigative body that caters to the security needs and requirements of every Kenyan and such acts in no way define who we are,” the DCI said.
He said one of the managers then transferred Sh40,000 from the businessman‘s MPesa account to his own.
The DCI explained that after this they went to the man’s apartment where they seized some 272,000 shillings before dumping him in Choma Zone along Mombasa Road.
The agency urged those who may have been robbed by officers to report to the Major Crimes Unit headquarters for action.
“Therefore, we warn all police officers on the wrong side of the law that severe and swift action will be taken against them, in strict compliance with the law, regardless of the service from which they are drawn.”
