Dublin businessman ‘overwhelmed’ by response to pet umbrellas
A businessman whose work in organizing poker tournaments across the world came to a halt during Covid-19 says he has been overwhelmed by the response to his new line of pet umbrella sales.
Glenn Doyle (29) thinks wet dog scent could be a thing of the past with his new line of umbrellas that attach to a dog’s or tiny pet’s leash and keep their fur dry on the go. walks in rainy weather.
The Blanchardstown, Dublin entrepreneur who works with The Green Felts launched the product a few months ago and says the support has been overwhelming.
“We call them pet umbrellas so we don’t restrict them to dogs. However, we know dogs will be the primary users, but we don’t want other small animal owners to feel alienated.
“This is a functional item that is perfect for small dogs. They attach to the dog’s leash and can be opened to cover them if it starts to rain, and the umbrella’s canopy is made of clear plastic for allow you to see the animal at all times.
“I was working on running poker tournaments around the world when Covid shut it down. One allowed sport was golf, so we did have a few tournaments in the area with branded equipment such as jackets and umbrellas. golf.
“Our supplier mentioned the dog umbrellas that I thought would be perfect in our day, so I ordered 50 as a trial.
“I’ve had plenty of comments from people saying they’ve seen it all now and others who thought it was a joke.
“However, I have sold all 50 and another order of 250 is selling very well,” Glynn said.
“The Green Felts is obviously open again due to the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions, so I was away for a few weeks, and when I returned the number of inquiries was overwhelming.
“The umbrella will keep the majority of the rain on the dog’s head and back, but its paws will still be wet. But it will reduce wet dog odor and prevent the dog from shaking off all the excess water, often on the owner, ”he adds.
