Businessman sues ex-wife for US $ 150,000 after she calls him “monsters” and “thieves” him and his new wife on social media
A Harare-based businessman is suing his ex-wife over slanderous and scandalous social media posts.
Adlai Pazvakavambwa slapped his ex-wife Litchel Mandiveyi with a US $ 150,000 lawsuit.
It comes after Litchel posted several Facebook posts attacking him and his new wife Natalie Munemo.
“I had no idea that an evil plan was already devised to rob you. I wondered what kind of monster steals a 7 year old from his mother.
“Adlai Pazvakawambwa and your wife Natalie, if there is any humanity left in you …
“It was us against the world my son until the devil came to kill and steal and destroy.
“I pray that his vengeance and anger will be brought to those responsible for our anguish.
“May all the lies come back to them, all the pain caused be returned to the sender,” one of Mandiveyi’s Facebook posts read.
In one of the messages, Litchel allegedly called him and his new wife a “monster” and a “thief”.
Adlai says Litchel’s social media post attacked his personality, integrity and reputation.
According to the summons presented to the court, Adlai and his current wife claim that parts of the social media post posted by Litchel were outrageous and demeaning.
“The post on Facebook was not only false in all respects, but highly libelous, scandalous and malicious and was posted for the express purpose of slandering my personality and that of my wife, belittling them in the estimation of ordinary reasonable people on Facebook. . platform ”, we read in the summons.
H-Metro reports that after posting several defamatory posts, Adlai asked Litchel to take down the social media post and remove every defamatory statement made about them and to issue a public apology.
However, all efforts to settle the matter were in vain as Litchel only cut the post, but still failed to issue a strong public apology.
Adlai maintains that Litchel’s Facebook post has subjected him and his wife to social condemnation.
“My wife and I have been seriously embarrassed, ridiculed, condemned and harassed by the public and lost our reputation, like the post, which mentions me by my full name and my wife by her first name,” he said.
To settle the case, Adlai claims US $ 100,000 while his wife Natalie claims US $ 50,000 for damages.
