Biggest bank fraud: AgustaWestland Chopper seized from Pune businessman’s premises
Pune: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seized a helicopter manufactured by AgustaWestland from the premises of Pune businessman Avinash Bhonsale in connection with the Rs 34,614 crore Dewan Housing Finance Limited fraud case (DHFL).
CBI officials had discovered the helicopter while searching various locations to locate assets acquired with the proceeds of what is being called India’s biggest bank fraud.
According to India Today, the helicopter was purchased by Bhonsale, who was recently arrested by the CBI.
He was found in a large hangar-like room.
The CBI recently recovered paintings worth Rs 5.50 crore and seized two luxury watches worth Rs 5 crore during their searches.

Former DHFL chief executive Kapil Wadhawan, then director Dheeraj Wadhawan, businessman Sudhakar Shetty and others have been charged with taking part in a criminal conspiracy to deceive a consortium of 17 banks, led by the Union Bank of India.
The defendants were charged with cheating and fraud under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
