A software engineer and his two associates have been arrested for allegedly setting up a businessman and asking him for ₹ 1 crore after threatening to upload his transformed images to social media platforms, police said on Sunday.
The main defendant, Raj Kishor Singh, a software engineer based in Gurugram, has fallen in bad company because of his lavish lifestyle, they said.
He opened a spa and recruited women for call girl services. To cover his expenses, he used them to trick wealthy and wealthy businessmen, take intimate photos or videos, and demand money from them after threatening to upload them if they didn’t pay. they stated.
Police said Singh, Aryan Dixit (28) and another associate, also a software engineer, would target wealthy businessmen via Tinder. The woman would initiate talks to lure the victim and later set up a meeting, police said.
“During the meeting, the woman discreetly placed the camera hidden in her purse in the room and captured intimate videos and images. After a few days, the victim received an extortion call from Singh, who threatened to upload the videos and photos to social media platforms if the requested money was not paid, ”a senior police officer said. .
The arrests of the three defendants were made by the Delhi Police Criminal Division after receiving a complaint from a businessman. In the complaint, the businessman said he received calls from an unknown person asking him for ₹ 1 crore and threatening to post his nude and transformed photos with a woman on social media sites, according to the police.
DCP (Crime) Manoj C said that during the investigation, technical surveillance was put in place, manual information was collected and the location of the suspect was identified. “A raid was carried out and one of the suspects identified as Rajkishor Singh was arrested by Gurugram who revealed his involvement and revealed the names of his two accomplices,” the DCP said.
Another raid was carried out at DLF Phase II in Gurugram, from where the woman was arrested while her co-accused and friend Dixit was arrested in Chhatarpur, south Delhi, he said.
During the search, two handbags equipped with a spy camera, a memory card, a USB key, a laptop containing videos and photos of the victims and a mobile phone used to extortion calls were recovered, he added.
Police said Dixit, an MBA graduate, ran an online clothing business. Singh had previously been arrested in a case registered at Connaught Place station, they added.
